Apex Legends reaches new heights with ALGS 2026 record success

The ALGS 2026 Split 1 Playoffs delivered a record-breaking performance at the Esports World Cup, becoming the most-watched Apex Legends event of the year. The tournament generated 6.81 million hours watched and reached 440,360 peak concurrent viewers, surpassing the 2025 ALGS Championship and all previous Apex Legends EWC events. UNLIMIT claimed the trophy after a dramatic Match Point Final.

A major factor behind the record-breaking audience was the strong support from Japanese and English speaking fans. With several Japanese and North American teams battling for the championship until the final rounds, viewer engagement remained exceptionally high throughout the tournament. Chinese audiences also contributed significantly, thanks to the participation of organizations such as Wolves Esports and JD Gaming, resulting in a sharp increase in watch time on international streaming platforms.

Tournament organizers also introduced a revised round robin group stage, allowing teams to play more matches and giving fans additional content to follow. Twitch Drops featuring exclusive in game cosmetics further boosted viewership by encouraging fans to tune in across multiple broadcasts.

UNLIMIT's victory was historic, making them the first all Japanese roster to win a global Apex Legends championship. The triumph also placed the team alongside 100 Thieves and Natus Vincere at the top of the Esports World Cup Club Championship standings, reinforcing Japan's growing influence in the competitive Apex Legends scene.
