Interview SLY Wire Solary player in EVA

Evalunna (Vitality)

Welcome and thank you for accepting this interview, can you introduce yourself and your team briefly?

Wire, Quentin COURIVAUD, 27 years old and EVA player. I also create video content and provide coaching to help the community improve. I play for Solary.

Tell us about your role and your daily life in the EVA scene.

EVA Ambassador, wearing the hats of creator, coach, and player.

What sets EVA apart from other video games?

The physical dimension.

In your opinion, what qualities should future players have if they want to go pro?

Good physical condition and lots of playtime with motivated players.

What do you think about the recent push to promote the scene?

I think it's great because it opens doors for pro players and new EVA players.

Do you have a funny or memorable anecdote as a player?

My 2-liter water bottle that fell and spilled on the EVA arena during the playoffs.

Do you think age is a factor for going pro in a game?

Yes, but standards are different for EVA. It's rare for very young players to catch up to the experience gap from seasoned players.

If you could change one thing about how young players are trained in esports, what would it be?

Accessibility, student passes, etc.

What made you want to get into esports?

The Battlefield 3/4 scene in 2014, and PGW 2019 with EVA.

What advice would you give to someone who wants to make it as a professional player?

The game is more important than the stakes.

What advice for someone who wants to work in a "behind-the-scenes" role?

Appreciate the work because it needs to be a passion profession.

Outside of esports, what other games or activities do you enjoy and how do they contribute to your balance?

Sports of all kinds, time with friends, and family.

What's the difference between being a player and being a team captain?

The captain has the legitimacy to take the lead when needed. They must set the pace for their team during crucial moments.

To be pro, how many hours per day does a player need to play?

For EVA, playing 3 to 4 hours and reviewing 5 to 6 hours.

What's your favorite game outside of EVA and why?

Counter-Strike (and War Thunder).

Who's your role model among professional players, someone you'd love to shake hands with?

Apex (CS).

What's your favorite weapon and why?

MP52. I love short-range duels that require precision, mobility, and spray control.

What would you improve in EVA esports if you were in charge tomorrow?

I'd assign one weapon per role to officially establish roles in the game (melee player, long-range player, etc.) with Socom as a secondary weapon if needed.

Your favorite season and map in EVA?

Season 1 and Helios map.

Is a physical routine necessary to play EVA?

Yes, good lifestyle habits are essential, with mandatory warm-ups and stretching for longevity.

A final message for the fans?

Enjoy the experience. The concept will always remain a childhood dream come true!
