Interview with SLY Grom, Solary player in EVA

Evalunna (Vitality)

Welcome and thank you for accepting this interview. Can you introduce yourself and your team briefly?

My name is Keo, also known as Grom, I’m 16 years old and currently a player in the EVA Pro League for Solary. I play alongside my teammates Wire, Mido, Azula, and Takaa.

Can you describe your role and daily routine within the EVA scene?

I’m a player in the EVA Pro League with Solary. Within the team, we don’t really have fixed roles, as we’re all capable of adapting and filling in for each other depending on the situation.

What makes EVA different from other video games?

EVA is a unique mix between sport and gaming. For me, it’s about 60% physical and 40% gameplay, which completely changes the way you approach it compared to other games.

At 16 and already a pro player, how did you realize you had the level to make it?

When I started EVA at around 13, I immediately liked the mix between sport and gaming. By playing with other players at the arena, I quickly realized I had a higher level. Then I built a team with Wire, who already had competitive experience.

What skills are essential to be a good EVA player?

You need to stay clear-headed, have a strong mindset, be in good physical condition, and be ready to do whatever it takes to reach your goals.

Do you have a funny or memorable anecdote as a player?

Yes, a few months ago during scrims, another team kept accusing me of using glitches or forbidden techniques, when in reality I was just better.

Do you think age is a factor in becoming a pro player?

Not really. What matters most is physical and mental condition. Age can have some impact, but it really depends on the individual.

If you could change one thing about how young players are trained in esports, what would it be?

I think esports isn’t valued enough for young people. Many believe a career is almost impossible, when sometimes it’s just about following your passion. A few years ago, I never thought I’d reach this level.

What made you want to get into esports?

Video games have always been my passion, and I’ve always been very competitive, especially when I fully commit to something.

What advice would you give to someone trying to make it in esports?

Keep going, take every opportunity to improve, and don’t rush things.

Is there a player or team that inspires you?

No, the only person who inspires me is myself.

Outside of esports, what do you do?

I play a lot of games like Escape from Tarkov, Rust, League of Legends, or Counter-Strike 2. Besides that, I also stay focused on my studies.

Do you think EVA will be accessible to everyone in the future?

Yes.

If you had to describe your teammates in one word each, what would it be?

Wire is impactful, Mido is reliable, Azula is calm, and Takaa is fast.

What is your favorite game outside of EVA?

I’d say Escape from Tarkov and Rust, because I really enjoy extraction shooters and survival games, especially with friends.

Which pro player would you like to meet?

None in particular.

What is your favorite weapon and why?

The shotgun, the T1 GAUSS. For me, it has always been the strongest weapon, even after nerfs.

What would you improve in EVA esports?

Weapon balancing and the overall meta.

What is your biggest strength as a player?

My physical condition, linked to my age and reinforced by playing EVA.

How did you discover EVA?

I saw an ad during the holidays and decided to give it a try.

Any final message for the fans?

We’re going to do everything we can to win.
